Etsy Store of the Week – Storeyshop

Oh! I’m excited about this week’s Etsy store because it’s one that I’ve had my eye for a while now. There are probably a dozen or so items that I’d love to purchase and I’ve tried to keep it to four – so hard! So this week’s store is Storeyshop, a UK based (I know, I’m so international) hand cut and laser cut greeting card and more shop. The sense of humor and love that comes from Storeyshop is wonderful and makes you stick around to check out her tons of listings (192 right now!). With that much creativity, she’s got something for everyone!

So for the item that I want the most, I’m having a hard time deciding on just one! And then I remembered, hey, this is my blog – I can have more than one! Isn’t life liberating once you realize your own power? Well, that’s true, but yeah, greatly exaggerated in this case. However, these two great cards are ones that I would love to get for Roger on some anniversary soon!  Storeyshop has lots more of these “I love you more than…” cards and can customize the message too in case you can’t find exactly what you want.

Another card I’d like to get Roger is this next one. He likes Superman and comics (but prefers the Hulk or Batman if anyone’s listening and caring at the same time) and this would be just right! And I just love the layered work done on this greeting card.

Storeyshop offers some great humor-based love greeting cards, but it’s not all she offers. There are housewarming, birthday, holiday and random occasion cards too. They all have bright colors and bold, simple designs which is the hallmark (ha!) of her cards. Here’s one in particular that I like because of the detail work on the house.

So if you need that special occasion card to let someone know how special they are, or need to stock up on unique Christmas cards, check out Storeyshop on Etsy!

Etsy Store of the Week – inblue

The Etsy Store of the Week is inblue! Inblue features fun and practical handmade leathercrafts. Simple and rustic designs with great images.

Before we get started I just wanted to apologize for the tardiness of this post. Tomorrow, I’m having an exploratory surgery to diagnosis possible endometriosis and today is the cleansing prep. Read: yuck! I know, I know, too much information! Anyway, I’m pretty much bed-ridden today and had a hard time getting motivated to do anything. But inblue’s work is gorgeous enough to get me going! Let’s take a look!

The first item is of course what I want! In fact, I was looking at the recently listed feature on Etsy and that’s how I found this shop. A beautiful checkbook cover with a great owl image!

This next one was recently added to the shop and I think it will be a great seller! It’s the perfect mixture of masculine and feminine in an iPod or iPhone case.

This would be a great gift idea for the up-and-coming photographer: a stylish business card case that displays their profession.

And this last one is something I wish I could buy and give but I don’t know anyone for it right now! This would be absolutely perfect for anyone going on a great trip. Backpacking through Europe, relaxing for weeks in a tropical getaway or just eating your way across America.

Such a great style and feel to the shop! Here’s a little more about inblue from her profile:

I sew each and every day, motivated by the everchanging landscape and culture shock. I am most excited by color and texture, along with the reckless abandonment of the thimble.

And as always, here are the links for you to forfeit some of your money for these awesome items!

Oh and now Roger’s cooking bacon and it smells so good… Drool… Can’t wait until I can eat solid foods again!! See you next week!

Praise for the PetFinder.com App

Last night, while watching the new Fox cartoons, another new annoying Apple commercial came on for the iPhone. However, as some intensely interested in animals, this one was definitely better than most! It showed off iPhone applications that revolved around a pet adoption. This first app to be shown was the PetFinder.com application and the pictures on the commercial were fantastic.

I quickly picked up my iPhone, which is never far from my hands, and downloaded this free application from the App Store. I love browsing through pictures of pets no matter where I find the them, so this app had great potential. And it completely lived up to my expectations!

Extremely easy to browse through the adoptables which are separated into dogs, cats and others (bunnies mostly). Once you pick a category, the app provides a gallery of pictures in your area (it asks to use your current location). Once you click on one picture, you can see that image full screen and then flick your way through to other pictures. After finding a simply irresistible pet (which takes a whole two seconds for me!), pick the details button in the top right and you’ll find more pictures if there are any available, a brief description provided by the shelter and other information.

So for anyone on the lookout for a new pet, or someone addicted to adorables like myself, get this app! And thank the wonderful people at PetFinder.com for providing such a great service. Also, I need to find out who this “MT” who is taking so many wonderful pictures of the dogs up for adoption at the Nevada Humane Society. What a great way to build your portfolio and serve your community. Thank you!
